One dilemma plant managers face on a constant basis is how to decrease energy costs while increasing production. Luckily, new technology is making this less of a problem.
One way managers are dealing with this problem is by investing in fast-acting doors for cold storage areas. These doors operate four times as quickly as standard freezer doors, limiting the amount of cold air that escapes. Another route managers are taking is converting to blast freezer walls. These walls are essentially insulated sliding doors that can be easily operated by just one employee. Decision makers are also turning to HVLS fans for savings. These fans can decrease energy consumption by up to 30% while providing additional comfort for employees.
