Manual Ergonomic Wheel-Lok

The Manual Ergonomic Wheel-Lok, or MEWL for short, is our new manual vehicle locking system. It provides reliable and effective protection against unintentional truck departures and trailer creep during loading and unloading operations at the loading point. Once the truck has docked at the loading point, the system is operated by the driver or the loading personnel on site.

The locking arm, mounted on a smooth-running slide, is positioned along the guide rail directly in front of the wheel to be secured. When the control lever is pressed, the arm moves forward and locks into place in front of the tire. Once engaged, the arm cannot be released from the outside—it can only be unlocked after receiving a signal from the control box inside the building.

Advantages of the MEWL:

  • Intuitive and simple to operate
  • Ergonomic and smooth-running
  • Robust system, solid construction, not very susceptible to damage
  • Temperature-resistant and weatherproof; due to the height of the product, the locking components have no contact with the ground. No sensitive electronic components.
  • Safe in case of water accumulation at the loading dock
  • Virtually maintenance-free, few moving parts
  • System meets FEM* Class 3 requirements for fully loaded semi-trailers
  • Full 24-month warranty; extension to 60 months possible – contact your Rite-Hite sales partner!

Technical Data

  • Corrosion protection of the structure through hot-dip galvanizing.
  • Corrosion protection of the chassis through cathodic dip coating and double epoxy powder coating in the oven.
  • Installation on the floor, protected by steel wheel guides.
  • Fastened with 8 bolts (16x150), anchored in concrete.

Function

  • Approach clearance (outside traffic light green): The driver may dock onto the ramp.
  • Locking (internal traffic light red): The gate remains locked until the block is active.
  • Activation: The driver positions the steel arm in front of the wheel – automatic locking by electromagnet.
  • Release for loading process: Traffic light system changes, the gate opens.
  • After completion: After the gate and ramp have closed, the lock is released manually by pressing a button.
