Rite-Vu™ Hazard Recognition and Control at the Loading Dock

Incorporate lights along with audible and visual alarms for an immediate impact at the loading dock. Simple red and green lights communicate dock status to both forklift operators inside the facility and truck drivers outside. Interior signals indicate when it is safe to begin loading, while exterior signals communicate when it is safe to back in or depart the dock. Audible and visual alarms alert personnel to unsafe conditions, such as drive approach hazards or entering an unrestrained trailer. Rite-Vu loading dock dock hazard recognition helps create a safer, more productive facility.

Improve dock safety with Rite-Vu™ Hazard Recognition and Control

Start with clear dock communication

  • Introduce dock communication with Rite-Vu light communication systems that clearly signal dock status to personnel and truck drivers, helping reduce miscommunication and reinforce safe loading procedures. Rite-Vu communication comes standard with all Dok-Lok® vehicle restraints, providing an integrated foundation for safer operation.
  • Extend visibility with line-of-sight communication: Corner-Vu™ and Leveler-Vu™ extend communication beyond the control box, giving forklift operators clear visibility of dock status when entering and exiting trailers.
  • Increase awareness inside the facility: Pedestrian-Vu™ detects activity in and around the trailer, helping alert personnel to unsafe conditions and improve reaction time during loading. When interlocked with Dok-Lok vehicle restraints, it can prevent a trailer from being erroneously unrestrained if activity is detected inside. If someone enters an unrestrained trailer, the system triggers audible alarms and changes exterior communication lights to alert drivers not to pull away.
  • Communicate hazards on the drive approach: Approach-Vu™ detects trailer movement and activity on the drive approach, helping alert pedestrians to potential hazards outside the building. Audible and visual alerts warn personnel when a trailer is backing in or pulling away, helping prevent drive approach accidents and reduce the need to step into active traffic areas.
  • Verify safe trailer conditions: Visual verification systems allow operators to confirm safe trailer conditions from inside the facility, reducing the need to step onto the drive approach while maintaining productivity. Lok-Vu™ provides confirmation of Dok-Lok engagement and trailer stand presence and is available as a standalone solution. Lok-Vu Pro adds a high-definition camera for event-based video capture with a platform designed for AI-ready applications, helping expand visibility over time.
  • Track dock activity and performance: The Dok-Lok® Dock Timer tracks loading and unloading duration at each dock position, helping teams monitor activity, prioritize work, and improve efficiency. The Dock Timer is also standard in Dok-Commander® Pro controls, extending visibility as part of a more advanced system.
  • Expand from communication to control: Rite-Vu™ Hazard Recognition and Control components can be used as standalone solutions or integrated with loading dock control systems, allowing facilities to scale over time. As needs grow, dock controls help coordinate equipment, reinforce safe sequencing, and centralize operation at each dock position. This approach allows facilities to start with communication and expand to integrated control and connected dock capabilities as needs evolve.
  • Connected dock visibility with Rite-Hite ONE®: When connected to the Rite-Hite ONE platform, Rite-Vu and loading dock control systems extend visibility beyond the dock position. Facilities can monitor activity, track equipment status, and access insights based on connected systems, helping support safer, more efficient performance across docks and facilities.
