<h3><a href="~/link.aspx?_id=B74D1705A57840B5BF177CCF51ECD1CA&_z=z">Choose the right HVLS fan to maximize airflow</a></h3> <br /> When placing a <a href="~/link.aspx?_id=E1FAA93231914A86B900B5BF348EE449&_z=z">Rite-Hite high volume, low speed HVLS fan</a>, larger diameter fans will move air further down rack aisles and over some obstructions. Smaller diameter fans can be most effective in specific work or activity areas or where installation space is limited. Each Rite-Hite HVLS fan has minimum overhead clearance requirements based on the fan’s diameter. The smaller the fan diameter, the closer it can be mounted to the ceiling.<br /> <br /> Use large ceiling fans to minimize airflow obstructions and provide the greatest cooling effect to the most people. When possible, keep blade tips at least two fan blade lengths from walls and solid obstructions. Revolution Construction

<strong> <h3>Blade Design</h3> </strong> <p><a href="~/link.aspx?_id=E1FAA93231914A86B900B5BF348EE449&_z=z">Rite-Hite HVLS Fans</a> construct its blades from strong, lightweight aluminum. This produces a more stable blade that maximizes air movement directly underneath the fan. In addition, Rite-Hite fan blades have an advanced, contoured shape (tilt, taper and twist) that produces consistent airflow across the entire length of the blade. This unique fan blade design produces the most air, over the largest area, at the lowest cost when compared to competitive HVLS fans.</p> <strong> <h3>Hub and Mounting System</h3> </strong> <p>Similar to the blades of a helicopter, Rite-Hite’s fan blades are attached to the hub by a pivot. The pivot is surrounded by a resilient, vibration-absorbing material, which eases the stress transferred to the hub and drive during operation. When compared to fans with rigidly- mounted blades, Rite-Hite blades can reduce stress to the hub and drive by upwards of 50 percent, which substantially increases the life of the drive mechanism.</p> <p>To ensure a tight connection, Rite-Hite fan blades are mounted in two specific ways. They are seated on the hub arm and then locked into position with a machined bolt that requires a torque setting. In addition, all Rite-Hite hubs and blades are “rotationally-balanced” at the factory and will never require adjustment. This ensures smooth and balanced operation over the lifetime of the fan.</p> <p>Most HVLS fan manufacturers use a cast hub, which is created by pouring molten aluminum into a mold. It is difficult to regulate the consistency of a casting due to variances in the materials and manufacturing process. As a result, cast hubs are more porous and susceptible to cracking. Rite-Hite uses a milled aluminum hub that is much stronger than a traditional cast hub. A computer controlled milling machine is used to remove materials from a block of aluminum. This process produces a more durable and reliable hub when compared to a cast hub.</p> <strong> <h3>Safety</h3> </strong> <p>The <a href="~/link.aspx?_id=FCD6CBC978FB48E6B2302C7C7D5FBAFD&_z=z">Revolution HVLS Fan</a> offers a three-way motor-to hub safety connection. The hub attaches to the motor using a reverse thread bolt and tapered aluminum bushing, a safety ring backs up the motor to hub connection, and finally, each blade arm is attached to the safety ring. HVLS Fans "Destratification"

<h3>Warming up with destratification</h3> <p>During the heating season, there can be up to a 30-degree difference between the floor and ceiling at most manufacturing plants and warehouses as a result of warm air (light) rising and cold air (heavy) settling. Typically, the air temperature will be one-half to one degree warmer for every foot in height. Heating systems must work hard for extended periods of time to maintain the temperature near the floor, or at the thermostat set point, wasting precious energy and dollars</p> <p><a href="~/link.aspx?_id=E1FAA93231914A86B900B5BF348EE449&_z=z">HVLS fans</a> mitigate the rising heat effect by gently moving the warm air near the ceiling back down toward the floor where it is needed; a process called <a href="~/link.aspx?_id=D0A700851C3F4B789D0EAA275D9A6E78&_z=z">destratification</a>. The air reaches the floor below the fan where it then moves horizontally a few feet above the floor. The air eventually rises to the ceiling where it is cycled downward again. This mixing effect creates a much more uniform air temperature, with perhaps a single degree difference from floor to ceiling.
