Air Movement, Humidity and Temperature Control

Air Movement, Humidity and Temperature Control

Enhance air movement and control in your facility with Rite-Hite's full-suite of solutions and services. At the loading dock and inside the plant, we have a comprehensive set of products that help increase efficiency and energy savings by providing efficient air movement in your facility. These systems are key to preserving environmental integrity, particularly in areas where maintaining air quality and flow is crucial.

High-Volume, Low Speed Fans

High-Volume, low-speed fans (HVLS) have become the standard for low-cost, high efficiency environmental control in a wide variety of commercial and industrial settings. Moving large volumes of air down from the ceiling and across the floor of a building creates a more comfortable, safe, and productive work environment while improving temperature control year round.

Benefits of HVLS Fans

HVLS Fans Help Reduce Condensation

Sweating Slab Syndrome (SSS) is when moisture intermittently develops on the surface of an interior concrete slab, such as a warehouse floor. SSS can increase the slickness of the concrete surface and pose a serious risk to the safety of workers and materials handling operations. HVLS fans provide consistent air movement that can help to reduce condensation in your facility and reduce this phenomenon. In addition, the impact of humidity or excess moisture on equipment and inventory can result in substantial product loss or manufacturing downtime. HVAC systems control temperature, but increased airflow is key to controlling condensation and corrosion to help maintain product integrity.

Increase Comfort and Productivity

Studies show that as temperatures go up, productivity drops with just a few degrees of temperature difference having a positive (the cooler it is) or negative (the warmer it is) impact. Add humidity into the equation and the comfort level of a building can change dramatically. With air speeds of just 2-3 miles per hour (3-5 km/h), an HVLS fan can affect a 7 to 11 (4-6 °C) degree drop in temperature.

Improve Air Circulation to Help Decrease Airborne Contaminants

In a building, humidity can be one of the biggest challenges faced every day. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that indoor air pollution, which can be caused by humidity, may cost the nation tens of billions of dollars each year in lost productivity and medical care. Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is a term used to describe situations where building occupants experience acute health and comfort issues that appear to be linked to time spent in a building, even though specific causes can’t be identified. Stagnant air, humidity, or lack thereof, can be primary contributors of SBS. By increasing air movement, HVLS fans can help dissipate moisture and disperse concentrations of airborne contaminants.

The Rite Solution

We offer a variety of HVLS fans to address environmental control issues and provide an alternative to other, less effective floor fans. A single fan can cover areas up to 22,000 square feet (2043 m²) and can replace as many as 10 to 20 floor fans, or smaller ceiling fans. With something for every situation and need, Rite-Hite manufactures four-blade and two-blade fans, as well as a floor mounted model.
