HVLS Fans

Revolution® | Revolution® 25 Series | Revolution® 75 & 150 Series | Fan-Commander 2.0

The high volume, low speed (HVLS) industrial ceiling fan is designed to circulate the air in your facility more efficiently and effectively.

What is an HVLS fan? HVLS fans are large industrial fans that typically measure 6 feet and up. These fans are meant to circulate a large amount of air by pulling air from above the fan and pushing it down in a conical shape to the floor below. Air travels in this cone shape until it hits the floor and then moves in a horizontal stream away from the diameter of the fan.

These highly efficient, cost-saving commercial ceiling fans are ideal for industrial and commercial buildings with high ceilings and for spaces larger than 30,000 square feet such as warehouses, distribution centers, gymnasiums and a variety of other applications. Rotating at an optimized low speed, Rite-Hite’s HVLS industrial fans move the most air over the largest area at the lowest cost.

HVLS fans have benefits year-round by creating a more comfortable environment while saving on energy costs. They keep people cool in the summer, and in the winter, they can be used for destratification - a process that mixes warm air from the ceiling with cooler air at the floor.

With the Fan-Commander Wireless Touch Screen Control Station, users can optimize the year-round performance of Rite-Hite HVLS fans throughout a single industrial or commercial facility, maximizing the energy savings and comfort they deliver.

Motor options: Direct drive or gearbox

Rite-Hite's HVLS fan lineup includes industrial ceiling fans with geared motors (Revolution®) as well as fans with direct drive motors (Revolution 75 & 150 Series® and Revolution 25 Series®).

Cost savings at every turn

Costing only a few cents an hour to operate, Rite Hite HVLS fans allow you to save on energy costs by increasing the thermostat temperature while maximizing the comfort level when it’s hot or by warming the facility through destratification when it’s cold. This helps save significant money on energy and heating bills, especially in larger facilities.

Cooling

Air speed produces a wind chill factor, which lowers the effective temperature, giving a person the sensation of being exposed to a lower temperature than the actual measured/constant temperature. HVLS fans for industrial or commercial facilities are also an ideal supplement to air conditioning, allowing a facility to raise set points by as much as 4°F (2°C) without a noticeable change in comfort. Increasing set point can help reduce summertime energy consumption by as much as 20%.

The increased air movement caused by our industrial HVLS fan reduces effective temperatures and can help make the air feel up to 18°F (10°C) cooler.

The graphs below show how the "Feels Like" temperature drops with the addition of air movement for an employee working at a high activity level (such as manual lifting, heavy machine or construction work) in three different constant temperature environments. The difference between no air movement and 4 mph airspeeds (with a 70°F constant temperature) can help a worker feel up to 14°F cooler!

Heating

HVLS fans operating in the winter will mix the warmer air at the ceiling with the cooler air at the floor to even the temperature throughout the space (illustrated below). This process, called destratification, can reduce a facility’s energy consumption by up to 30% - meaning typical payback periods for our fans are between 6 months and 2 years.

Comfort

Rite-Hite HVLS fans provide year-round comfort for employees, customers and other visitors to your facility. In addition to keeping the temperature comfortable, our fans can also help reduce the chance of a heat stress and help eliminate illness associated with “sick” buildings by improving indoor air quality.

Environment

HVLS industrial fans can contribute to earning LEED credits in the following categories:

  • Energy & Atmosphere
  • Indoor Environmental Quality
  • Innovation in Design
    • In addition, many state, federal and local utilities offer rebates and incentives for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. To learn what is available in your area, visit the US Department of Energy’s Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency.

      Additional Benefits of HVLS Fans

      • Reduce condensation on floors (a situation commonly referred to as Sweating Slab Syndrome in the construction industry).
      • Eliminate multiple smaller high speed floor or wall fans – A single Revolution Fan can eliminate up to 20 smaller floor fans.
      • Eliminate birds from airplane hangars and other large spaces where doors open frequently.
      • Prevent expensive metal from rusting due to condensation.
