Mezzanine and Elevated Platform Fall Protection
Elevated work areas provide extra staging and storage space in warehouses and distribution centers, where space is at a premium. Often located nine feet (2.75 m) or more above the ground floor, mezzanines can also present a serious hazard to workers who must access freight delivered or stored at this level. Employers therefore must set up the work place to prevent employees from falling off of overhead platforms and elevated work stations. OSHA standard 1910 Subpart D requires that employers must provide fall protection for personnel on walking-working surfaces. This includes any surface higher than four feet above the ground floor. Mezzanines, because they can be several feet from the ground, can be the cause of serious fall injuries.
Rite-Hite’s GateKeeper dual reciprocating gate ensures full time safety at the edge of a mezzanine platform by keeping one gate closed at all times. The RacKeeper Safety Gate, on the other hand, is perfect for multilevel pick modules or any other elevated work area that requires fall protection within a racking system.
