Maker’s Mark, based in Loretto, Ky., is one of the leading bourbon distilleries in the nation. The company added warehousing capacity and overhauled its 14 loading dock bays to operate at optimum safety and efficiency. Brian Mattingly, director of bottling and warehousing, took the lead in the system upgrade process, searching for better ways to secure trailers at the loading dock and minimize jolts to lift truck operators as they entered and exited trailers. The new integrated loading dock system from Rite-Hite includes automated vehicle restraints, safety lights and hydraulic dock levelers that create 50% less dock shock.

“These new levelers have significantly reduced the risk of injuries to our workers, while increasing efficiency in the warehouse and reducing equipment and product damages,” Mattingly says. “The levelers were a great addition to the system.”
