Safe-T-Strut Support System

Loading dock equipment and workers are both at risk when dock levelers are being serviced. The Safe-T-Strut Support System by Rite-Hite Aftermarket is a dock leveler support system designed to help make loading docks safer for personnel when servicing a leveler.

“The Safe-T-Strut Support System was introduced to provide an effective way to secure levelers while maintenance is performed.” Rite-Hite Aftermarket President Paul Maly said. “Since its introduction, the Safe-T-Strut has helped to reduce injury to personnel and has increased safety on the loading dock.”

The vertically positioned Safe-T-Strut Support System is constructed of a 1″ schedule 40 steel tubing for levelers under 50,000-lbs. and 1-1/4″ schedule 40 steel tubing for levelers over 50,000-lbs. The patented through-the-lip design of the Safe-T-Strut, keeps the leveler in a safe and secured position, even if it is raised to its maximum height, or if the leveler is impacted by a fork-truck traveling 3-4 mph.

The lip of the leveler is supported with the Safe-T-Strut’s steel collar that the leveler lip rests on. A heavy-duty steel mounting base allows the Safe-T-Strut to be installed securely in the leveler. In addition, the Safe-T-Strut complies with OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.147, the control of hazardous energy and lockout/tagout.

The Safe-T-Strut can be retrofitted to most pit style levelers and is painted safety yellow for high visibility at the loading dock. A heavy-duty chain is welded to the Safe-T-Strut and the frame of the leveler, helping to reduce loss or theft of the safety support.
