Insulator Dock Sealing System

The INSULATOR system is comprised of several innovative new components, including the FIREFIGHTER™ header seal, MOTION-BACKER™ side pad technology, INSULATOR™ bottom seal and DURATHON™ fabric. Together, these components offer companies the highest opportunity for achieving dock sealing efficiency at a low lifetime ownership cost. Unique durability features result in reduced wear and tear, lower maintenance costs and longer product life, while new design features provide improved environmental control for maximum energy cost savings.
First, the INSULATOR system offers the fire resistant FIREFIGHTER header seal, which prevents the head pad from smoldering or catching fire due to the intense heat generated by the marker lights of trailers parked at the dock. When in contact with foam head pads, heat from these lights can reach 900° F in as little as 20 minutes. The FIREFIGHTER header seal is the only header seal in the industry with heat-dissipation technology that can prevent ignition of the header seal in these instances. It is also available as a stand-alone product for retrofitting existing foam seal units.
Second, the INSULATOR system features the industry’s first integrated bottom seal, which helps control energy loss through the gaps at the corners of and beneath the dock leveler. The INSULATOR bottom seal works together with most Rite-Hite hydraulic levelers to provide the most complete seal possible at dock openings.
Finally, the INSULATOR system offers revolutionary new vertical-motion side pads which move up and down with the trailer as it fluctuates during loading and unloading. The proprietary MOTION-BACKER technology results in far less friction being applied against the seal and therefore much longer product life. Additionally, the INSULATOR system is covered with new DURATHON fabric, which runs across the entire head pad and up the full length of the front and inner side pads. This added reinforcement gives INSULATOR seals the ability to withstand heavy trailer traffic without showing the wear and tear that traditional foam seals exhibit.
The combination of DURATHON fabric and vertical-motion side pads completely eliminate the need for reinforcement pleats, which have long been considered necessary in the industry for long-term durability. Pleats curl, fray and tear over time, however, creating unsightly dock seals and costly maintenance issues. The elimination of pleats not only saves on repair costs, but also allows INSULATOR seals to look better longer, improving building aesthetics.
