SAFE-T-LIP Leveler Prevents Accident At Courtaulds Coatings
After preventing a forklift fall, the SAFE-T-LIP dock leveler proved itself to plant supervisor, Dan Madlon.
Courtaulds Coatings’ distribution andmanufacturing facility in Louisville, Ky., operates two shifts and services more than 80 trucks per day using Rite-Hite mechanical SAFE-T-LIP levelers. Says Dan Madlon, plant supervisor:
“Our faith in the SAFE-T-LIP leveler was confirmed when one of our forklift drivers was crossing the dock after a rainfall and tried to brake. The brakes failed and the driver jumped off of the forklift while it continued on and slammed into the SAFE-T-LIP barrier. The impact didn’t affect the operation of the SAFE-T-LIP or damage it either. That’s the great thing about this product—it not only protects our employees and equipment, but it’s virtually indestructible.
“Our safety standards are so exhaustive that we demand the best dock equipment possible—that’s why we installed Rite-Hite SAFE-T-LIP levelers. Whether there are trucks at the loading dock or not, we’re assured that no one is going to go over the dock edge with these barriers in place.”
