Coleman Company Enhances Dock Safety with SAFE-T-LIP Levelers

Coleman Company has boosted its dock safety by installing 31 SAFE-T-LIP levelers.
Coleman Company’s 700,000 square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility in Wichita, Kan., loads as many as 31,000 truckloads per year, operating three shifts per day. Says George Guthrie, distribution center manager:
“Before we installed the Rite-Hite SAFE-T-LIP levelers, our forklift drivers ran the risk of backing off the edge of an open dock. I mean, once a truck drives away, what would prevent an accident like that? The potential hazard prompted me to explore means of improving safety at our docks. “I reviewed a lot of dock equipment, and nothing on the market could compete with Rite-Hite’s. When loading or unloading is finished, the leveler automatically returns to dock level and the SAFE-T-LIP barrier is ready to stop whatever might accidentally run into it. The barrier even positions out of the way for unobstructed end-loading at any position, even below dock, resulting in increased efficiency and productivity.
“To date, we have installed 31 SAFE-T-LIP dock levelers and, within the next year, we plan on adding more. Without them, the potential exists for a serious injury or worse. At Coleman, we’re not willing to take that chance.”
